As a new user in 2009 I wanted skin tones that resembled my actual dark skin. It was so hard to find a skin that did. The only black skins I could find were light and medium brown. It was annoying. When I finally found some darker skins that I found acceptable they were poorly made. They looked more red and orange than they did dark brown. Fast forward 10 years later and I only have five dark skins total. And looking back at them (for the sake of this post) they were not that good, but I was happy I had them. I did not get good dark skin tones on IMVU until I started making them for myself.
When I started making skins for users, the sales were pretty good. I was earning some decent credits for them. I even received compliments in my inbox from people who really appreciated the effort I was putting into my skins. When I actually went to check in on my sales for each skin. I instantly noticed that the lighter skin tones were outselling the darker tones and not by just a little bit. This was a while ago but I remember giving it a ratio similar to 10:1. This was a while back though. Let's fast forward to when I started creating Mesh Heads at a high level in 2017 (I started practicing them in 2014 and and launched with Vladdy in 2016). I quickly noticed the same trend in my mesh heads that the skins I created back in 2011 had. The lighter ones were out selling the darker ones. The ratio is somewhere around 9:1 with my mesh heads. When I started making multi-toned versions of my heads the lighter ones always dominated in sales. I blame coloursim.

I found these images while looking up hair references for new projects. Even the eyes and facial hairs are straight stolen from IMVU. This needs to end before someone gets in trouble. IMVU and SIMS may just be games, but REAL people put in REAL work. If you guys had an ounce of fucking talent you would be making your own creations from scratch. screen shots of theftStop. Fucking. Stealing. My. Shit. It's not even funny. What gives you the right to steal from me?
